Strategy Director


FWD People is a boutique brand and digital agency looking to continue our rapid growth. We’re a tight-knit group of strategists, designers, developers, and creative thinkers committed to making a difference with our work.

In this role, you will work across our client portfolio, defining strategy, shaping product launches, and building brands to meet and exceed our partner’s objectives. You’ll be accountable for exceptional strategic thinking, partnership, and deliverables. You’ll build strong relationships internally and externally through excellence in delivery, communication, and strategic guidance. We’re looking for someone equipped with a robust background in brand strategy, eager to learn new industries, and capable of delivering exceptional value to our clients.

This is a full-time role with a flexible hybrid work schedule in NYC.


  • Lead brand strategy across projects
    • Conduct comprehensive discovery / research phases via immersion desk research, stakeholder/customer interviews, client meetings, working sessions, research partner management, etc. Lead distillation of discovery insights & findings.
    • Autonomously develop strategy decks, briefs, workshops, and presentations. Lead presentations and conversations with confidence incorporating best practices for narratives and storytelling. 
    • Become an expert on our clients and their challenges, expanding your strategy expertise across a wide range of industries and engagements.
    • Apply systems thinking across brand architecture, user journeys, product ecosystems, and more.
  • Confidently lead C-suite level clients on multiple projects simultaneously and hold responsibility for the executed deliverables.
  • Lead facilitation of in-person client workshops and meetings involving senior stakeholders from across the business, demonstrating a full understanding of how the business operates and its product sales cycle.
  • Develop and pitch recommendations to help clients better integrate their marketing and sales strategies, understanding how both the lead generation and follow-up sales engagement processes function within the client.
  • Brief internal teams, and encourage them to create best-in-class identity systems and brand applications (digital content, print, environmental, packaging, experiential)
  • Ensure that there is never a gap in service for our clients, even if it means rolling up your sleeves.  
  • Contribute to new business proposals and pitches, helping grow the agency’s profile and our client portfolio. 
  • Work to help shape our agency processes, strategy practices, and our overall approach to positioning the agency relative to our competitors.
  • Mentor and support team members.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of agency-based brand and campaign strategy experience. 
  • At least 5 years experience working with corporate, B2B, or Healthcare clients preferred.
  • Excellent narrative-building skills, demonstrated throughout all decks and documents.
  • Concise communication across all mediums, internally and externally. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, grow, and extend meaningful client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic brand materials and campaign plans. 
  • History of facilitating, presenting to, and helping guide senior leadership clients. 
  • Expert in communicating ideas in slides and across GSuite, and presenting internally and externally. 
  • Work well under pressure, maintaining attention to detail and eagerness to incorporate feedback gracefully. 
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude and collaborative nature, with the ability to adapt to new situations, think on your feet, and communicate openly and proactively with those around you.
  • Comfortable working in a fluid environment utilizing soft skills: active listening, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and decision-making.

Salary Range: $125,000 – $140,000 depending on experience
